REFLEXOLOGY FOR ANXIETY

Do you feel overwhelmed at times, have insomnia, unable to relax or find you worry obsessively?  This is your body’s response to feeling threatened, under pressure or dealing with stress.  Since anxiety disorders can look very different from person to person, one may suffer from mild or intense anxiety attacks striking without warning and appearing as heart attacks.  Others can experience panic attacks at any moment through triggers such as walking down a dark pathway, feeling threatened, meeting new groups of people to name a few.  Anxiety affects people who have had traumatic experiences such as vehicle accidents, physical or mental abuse.  Any of these circumstances share major symptoms of fear or worry.

The nurses at the School of Nursing, Division of Science and Design at the University of Canberra provided 87 cancer patients a 10-minute foot reflexology treatment.  The results revealed immediate effects on the patient’s perception of pain, reduced nausea and anxiety, leaving the patient in a relaxed state.

Reflexology focuses on these specific reflex points to reduce anxiety:

The solar plexus reflex enhances the feeling of well being, encourages you to breath deeper and slower and generally calms the physical indicators of stress.

The brain reflex can help to control any sense of feeling overwhelmed along with calming the brain.  Stomach reflex is stimulated to reduce the feeling of nausea.

Small Intestines and colon reflexes restores the bodies natural elimination process.

Adrenals is the reflex to spend extra time on as they have been exhausted during panic/anxiety attacks and can be a sensitive area to work.

If you are suffering from insomnia the pineal reflex is responsible for balancing your sleep patterns.

Lastly the master gland (pituitary reflex) is the most important endocrine gland.  Working on the pituitary reflex helps to reduce any anxiety symptoms as well as helping to adjust your body’s response to stress.

Reflexology balances and stimulates these reflexes to allow the bodies natural healing process to resume.  Through continuous reflexology treatments client have left feeling relaxed, balanced and energized.  Book your reflexology treatment with Debbie Schinzel today!
